I have been in prison for nearly 3 Years, convicted with possession with intent to supply drugs. Although I have studied and gained qualifications as a chef and also in chartered accounting, I was still involved with the wrong circle of people who I thought were my friends. Due to this I felt the need to be someone who I am not in order to fit in. This was the worst possible way of thinking as it nearly destroyed my future prospective.
I have joined the Garnsychan Partnership on a stage 1 placement on July 2011, during which time I have learnt to develop and look at life in a different perspective. I was a bit unsure if I would be accepted for who I am instead of being judged on my crime which was the past now for me and wanted to forget. After joining the Partnership, I was really grateful to find that I was made welcome as part of such a productive and positive team who acknowledged me and treated me fairly and equally. This gave me motivation to work even harder and to prove that people can change with the right help and support.
I have gained many skills whilst at the partnership, some of which are as follows:
As well as the above I have gained other skills that will help me personally as well as in a working in any environment.
I am really grateful that I have been given this opportunity at the partnership, as it has helped me to better myself as an individual. I am now totally focussed on my future, looking at my potential, to which I thank the partnership, who has given me the drive, motivation and ambition to be successful in life. I am determined not to go back to my old lifestyle and culture that I have previously been a part of.
