About The Garnsychan Partnership
The Garnsychan Partnership manages 8 separate projects from different sites within Torfaen, all dedicated to community based regeneration:
Operating from Garndiffaith:
Growing The Veg Box: Provides low-cost fresh produce to Torfaen residents through its Veg Box scheme. All of our produce is either sourced from local suppliers or grown by our gardener and volunteers in Garndiffaith, Varteg and Pontnewydd. The project also offers residents free basic cookery & gardening classes to give people the skills they need to make healthy choices for themselves and their families.
Lunch Club: Running every Tuesday from the Millennium Hall, this project provides a healthy three- course lunch for older people for just £3.00 each. The Lunch Club has a regular team of volunteers who help with the preparation, cooking and serving of food for up to 80 people. Entertainment is also provided at what is seen as a vital social gathering by all who attend.
Operating from Abersychan:
Learn to Win: Funded by Microsoft and part of the Microsoft Britain Works initiative, this project offers free IT training to anyone who lives in Torfaen. The project is designed to promote digital inclusion by giving people the opportunity to gain the skills and support they need to get back into work.
Operating from the Circulate site, Blaenavon:
Circulate Furniture Recycling: Promotes the re-use of unwanted bulky household waste within Torfaen. Items such as sofas, beds and wardrobes are diverted from landfill and are cleaned, repaired and sold on at low cost to the public from our showroom.
WoodWise: established in 2007, WoodWise collects scrap wood from businesses and individuals. Our carpenter and trainees then use the materials to make bespoke items such as garden sheds, benches and picnic tables.
MetalWise: collects scrap metal and finds innovative new uses for it. Orders for bespoke items can include hanging baskets and small gates.
Options Café: Our in-house café has a seasonal menu and specialises in healthy food choices. We also offer a buffet service which can cater for any event.
TechnoWise: collects unwanted IT equipment from schools, businesses and individuals. Our technicians then give the equipment a comprehensive refurbishment, and make it available for re-sale at low cost.
